December 2008/January 2009
Team Snö has been in Ramsau-am-Dachstein for the holidays. Together with my whole family. It was great fun. The team ran several times and Danica did so well.

February 2006
With just three dogs we travel up to Sweden this year. Just over a week since we lost Ezrah. And Berber, Robber and Chanouk are staying at home this time. So it's just Sterre, Aspen and Baruff.
In Halla my new sled is waiting. What a wonderful sled! It is so much better in stearing. I should have bought one years ago! We did some great trainingsruns here and we went to the Nordic Open again. That was fun too. Will did another good job of racejudging and I ran the race with an all American team.

The reaction of Donna after she read the results and saw the photo´s:
"I absolutely LOVED the photos of Sterre and Aspen, and of Baruff, Anita. I HOPE you will send them to me in a bigger format so I can print them! I'm glad you did the race and saluted Ezrah in so doing. I checked the website several times on Saturday (when I was here all day with the plumber).......but I hadn't seen the results until you wrote (being awfully busy here, too). I'm so glad you did this, Anita!"

February 2005
Team Snö has been in Sweden again! Due to medical circumstances, Baruff had to stay at home and Sterre decided that she missed him so much that she didn't want to drink at the Nordic Open. Sooo, the result was not all that good, but we had fun, lot's of snow and lovely weather.

Out on the trails near our little house it was fun too. We chased some reindeer, tried out our new van. Visited Jocke and Hanna and their kids.

Absolutely quite an experience was our stay at the Ice Hotel in Jukasjarvi, where we surviced a night in an icerum at -5 Celsius!

Here are some pics Margareta took of our team at the Nordic Open. And helping Wouter to get to the start. He ran two heats of 52 km with four Baruff kids in his team!

Thanks to Enerstedts Akeri for the scooterpet! And now it is time to start thinking about what we want with the team ....

February 2004
When Will is asked in the Summer 2003 to help the Race Judge at the Nordic Open in Asarna, Sweden, in February 2004, I am at home from work recovering from a car accident. At that moment I don't see myself standing on a sled, but we book a holidayhome close to Wouter and Margareta.

My neck goes quite okay and I am back at work by the end of September. Baruff is already staying with us then and in October I am on the cart for the first time in 11 months! And in December I decide to run the Nordic Open.
It was a huge experience for us and for the dogs. When I arrive at the start (thanks for your help: Annica and friends and Patrick!), it has been two years since we were in the snow and for Baruff it is the first time ever. We have to run 10 km and I thought if I could do that in an hour, that would be great. And that is what it takes us. Baruff is curious about all the new noices, teams passings, the sound of the sled on the snow. But the next day the team have a surprise for me! When I cross the finishline, I hear Margareta yelling: 48, 48!! We were 12 minutes faster than the day before! It felt like winning the Olympics .... It snows on the last day and we were slower, but again we had so much fun.
After the race, my neck decides to play up, so I need to take some rest. On the day we learn about Bruin, Wouter takes me on a excursion and later, while visiting Rob and Christien in Halla, we take the team out twice and even chase some reindeer.

Here are some impressions:

Team Snö has been in Sweden again!! First time for Aspen. She has been running in the team a few times and she did real well for a baby. Berber got sick in the first week and wasn't able to run for a few days. Sooo, his old Mum Robber took his place and she did very well too!! Wonder if you regonize her on the photo's below. Once Berber was feeling better, we started working on the last 500 points for Sterre's WS title. And we have never been so fast before. This Sterre is just amazing .......

We have had a photo reunion with the other Sammieteams that came to Sweden too. They took some nice pictues of our team right after the start.

February/March 2001
For the third time we took the dogs to Sweden for a sledding holiday. It was the first time for Sterre and she just loved it.
We have made enough excursions to get Berber, Robber and Ezrah the 500 points needed for their WSX title and Sterre is halfway for her WS title. Not bad.
It was very cold, but sunny, so we had a great time. We also tried some other parts of the trail to make it more exciting. Chanouka is no longer running in the team due to her jointproblems, but she was very happy staying behind with Will. Two other couples with Samoyeds came along with us, so in total we had 17 Samoyeds running around!! It was big fun.

While other mushers drive up to the snow every weekend in Wintertime, we take our dog to the snow for three weeks every winter.2 sisters ......

In the beginning we took them to Austria, but ended up more walking and we never had the feeling we got the hang of sledding.

One big happy family We were the laugh of the season in January 1997 when we jogged behind the pulk instead of skiing, because we felt skiing was way to dangerous.

Robber loved her first time in the snow and she led her sister Chanouka with pulk. It was big fun for all of us

This season (Winter 1999/2000) we took the dogs to Sweden for the 2nd time and that was great. Long trails and Ezrah got over her fear more and Berber finally proved that he is a good worker. AND the 4 dogs got enough point for their Working Samoyed title.

the dogboxesThe dog in their dogboxes in our van on our way up to Swedish Lapland. Although a very long trip (including a 3 hours boattrip) the dogs behaved really well. They let us know when it was time to eat or pee or when they needed to stretch their legs.

More news about our sleddingadventures will follow in March 2001. We hope that Sterre will be running in the team by then.
